It's not easy wading through the concepts, but its definitely worth it. The exercises are interesting and challenging, and if you do it right you'll internalize the material. I have some of his other Excel manuals and as a marketer, this one is easily my favorite. The only downside is the author skipping past some procedural details that I have now become prepared for; basically, if you look at the exercise, think about how you will do it before you read the instructions because you'll know when there is a minor omission. I still give it 5 stars because of the quality of the supplemental materials and applicability to the marketing field.

My masters degree has moss growing on it and I am just a nuts and bolts operations analyst....so I have seen many books titled as "analytics" texts when in fact they were mere rewrites of applied statistics or just "also ran" Excel recaps. Some Excel analytics books are really VBA biased programming books or discussions built around SQL Server topics, and they certainly have their place. But "Marketing Analytics" has maintained its focus as a synthesis of Excel based analysis chapter by chapter, from the first page to the last page. Because analytics and "BI" are hot topics these days, analytics texts of this caliber usually have unusually high prices but "Marketing Analytics" has a modest price given its focused content of current Excel applications to perform an array of analyses. Wayne Winston and Wiley & Sons Publishing have produced a text which is indeed an asset to the practitioner and the student of Excel based analytics.

This guys knows his stuff. It's a BIG book of ideas on how to use Excel to forecast or model. Treat it like a reference although you could read it end to end for entertainment value.

What an excellent book. The authors balance rigor w/ an applied step-by-step approach that is relatively easy to follow for those dedicated to learning the material.

very good book , especially for the people how have an old education somehow , or for those who want to refresh their marketing knowledge . this book ,firstly brings you back to the marketing approaches and theories ,secondly teaches you how to implement those theories though advanced Excels .

To the point, with amazing examples, a useful book with actionable information

Excellent for knowing how to do some stuff which I didn’t thought I can do with excel (no need to learn R programming or Python). But you need to know your analytics part a priori.Overall, very satisfied with my purchase.

It is a good mix of Excel capabilities and Marketing/Economic concepts, however Wayne has a tendency to dive directly into equations of how to calculate a concept without fully providing additional information that is needed. This makes it a bit hard to conceptualize what he is trying to say unless you have pre existing knowledge of the subject. It is a very good tactical book and I would recommend it as a very strong supplement to Analyst and Marketing managers who are trying to expand their knowledge base.

I am an IT project manager by trade, and it's worth mentioning that I did NOT sit down and read the A+ or Network+ books before this one, nor did I sit for either of those exams (which seems to be the way CompTIA intends you to do it.) So in my case, my passing score is entirely a result of job experience and this book.I feel this book covers the test content in thorough and appropriate depth; the sample test that came with the book, however, didn't begin to nearly cover the depth of what I encountered on the actual exam. I ended up ordering the "Security+ (SY0-501) - 30 Day Practice Test - CompTIA Authorized" off Mindhub and just kept taking it until I was able to get passing scores three times in a row. Even that test fell a bit short of the actual test (the real one went deeper into the Network+ stuff than I would have anticipated), but I was still able to pass on my first try having taken that approach.I bought the Network+ book after the exam, and intend to go back and read it before I go any further with other security certs.

This is one of the best I have read. I earned the Security+ on the prior exam and am now developing a training course. I purchased several study guides as reference material and this one is the best. It directly addresses each exam objective in the order of the official CompTIA exam objective documents. The publisher is a high-quality name with a long-standing reputation in education. I can wholeheartedly endorse this edition as an IT professional and an IT instructor.

in order to prepare yourself on passing the security plus, you definitely need external resources from other locations to prepare yourself. this book covers majority of it but not all, but then again CompTIA has their way of changing the exam when they need to. don't rely on just one book for the exam, if you have an intermediate knowledge of IT then this book will help prepare you for the exam definitely but if you are new to the IT industry, i'd recommend taking Darryl Gibson's book along with professor messer and keith barker's cbt nuggets of security 501. this book is amazing, it helped me pass the test with a 780. I noticed the practice test cd has some typo's and just needs to have that fixed

While 'comprehensive' might accurately describe the contents, this book, in no way, will not prepare you for the exam. It is a 'guide' only meant as a refresher for those experienced in the field or a launch point for further study. The syntax is often choppy, malformed, and full of technical jargon that doesn't quite explain what is being presented.FYI: The software that comes with the book is junk.If you want a book that can prepare you for the Security+ exam, I highly recommend"CompTIA Security+ Get Certified Get Ahead: SY0-501 Study Guide 4th Edition" by Darril Gibson.Rich content with detailed and understandable explanations and in-depth coverage of what you need to know and then some. It provides higher quality questions throughout the book to test your knowledge, and free content on his website to prepare you for the exam.

I recently passed the SY0-501 exam using this book. I read it cover to cover and took notes over everything. What I can tell you is that I personally preferred this to The Mike Meyers Udemy course, and Professor Messer's youtube channel (I tried those out before getting the book).After reading this book, you NEED to get your hands on realistic practice tests. You will have the base knowledge to pass the exam, but you need practice on application. You need challenging questions that will help you select the right "tools for the job", so to speak.****Your goal is is to pass the SY0-501 exam, not necessarily become more knowledgeable about cybersecurity. There is a difference; your primary goal is passing the exam, so focus on that until you do.****-----PRO------ This is a straightforward, bang-for-your-buck textbook that will get you 90% ready for the exam.- I can say that there was very little on the exam that this book didn't cover, or if it did cover, it didn't cover it too well (or I just forgot).- It's really (really) nice that it comes with an eBook. I didn't realize the value of this feature until I started travelling around for work/holidays, and I didn't have to lug the book around. The eBook is on every one of my devices, so accessibility was no issue for me. The physical book sat in my drawer at work, where it was needed (my employers are rightfully iffy about downloads).- The book doesn't spend too much time on stuff you don't need. Other times, there will be questions with far too little information that expect you to make logical leaps.Learning how to properly answer compTIA questions is itself a skill that needs to be learned. The quizzes in this book are well worded questions that any sane person would ask. Unfortunately, that's not what compTIA is going for with their questions.****REMINDER: Your goal is is to pass the SY0-501 exam, not necessarily become more knowledgeable about cybersecurity. There is a difference; your primary goal is passing the exam, so focus on that until you do.****- Sometimes, the book gets pretty repetitive, and not in a good way. There are paragraphs in which it feels like the same thing is being rephrased over and over again with a tiny bit of information added to each new iteration. This grinded on my nerves whenever this happened (which thankfully, was only a few times)-----Minor Nitpicks------ You're mostly left on your own to figure out how you're going to memorize a lot of the information. I'd like to see more use of things such as mnemonic devices, or abstract imagery to help the reader remember. Not a deal-breaker by any stretch, I'm just saying it would be nice.- There's not a ton of information on port number and the associated protocols. I was only asked a few questions about them, but I imagine that other people people taking the exam might not be so lucky. I did additional research to learn all the common port numbers.

Unfortunately, this book is written as though the reader will be familiar with most of the the material and the book will simply summarize everything in one convenient place. If you are like me - without experience and only passed the Network+ exam you will find this book of little help. Most information is not explained in depth and the author seem to assume the reader will have substantial knowledge in the field. That might be the case with some readers, but far not all.

Great book if your jumping into Sec+ for the first time. Easy to understand and it is well organized. The only reason I got this for Sec+ was because I got the A+ book in the same series as well, and I passed both exams just by reading that one book. I finished this book in about a month and am going to take the exam here shortly. I feel confident.

A very useful book for trans people who wish to work on their voice as part of their gender expression, but who do not have access to speech therapy or other voice coaching, which can be expensive.

Excellent aid to anyone looking to work on their voice. Simple exercises and very logical, easy to follow process.

Very useful in the process of learning to change your voice to match your gender. It's also, in my opinion, very hard to read, and rather rambling. It took almost half the book before any knowledge was imparted, just rambling for pages about why voice is important.

I received this book as a gift from my mother because she knows my frustration that I do not come across as male over the phone. I'm FTM and can only speak from a binary point of view. I haven't read the entire book yet but there are helpful drawings of proper posture and even anatomical diagrams. From what I can tell so far, this book shows great potential for helping all trans* people with passing. Sure, you may pass appearance-wise and socially, but the prosody of our speech could possibly "break our cover" and be devastating to those who live stealth. I'm glad I got this book.

After reading Bob Richter's "A Very Vintage Christmas," I was excited to learn of his book, "Vintage Living," and pre-ordered it. Well, it arrived March 20th, my birthday, and I was NOT disappointed! The thing I love about this book is the personal touch of the author. It is clear he lives what he is talking about. The photographs are awesome, and the personal discussion of the topics makes it feel as though you are participating in a conversation with someone who really loves the subject. "Vintage Living" is set up such that you can read it straight through or by individual chapters. Because the material speaks to each reader, there is added enjoyment as it is integrated it into each person's own experience. The book is not intimidating or condescending in tone. I really liked the ideas I got from viewing the photographs displaying collections. The sections on various holidays were celebrations in their own right. The journey of objects touched me the most. Each item has a story, which Mr. Richter demonstrates so easily. Of course there is the original owner's story of the object, but then the person who next has the item carries not only the original story, but continues that story with their own experience. There is a shared connection. Whenever I am in a place that is displaying or selling vintage items, I think about the stories that go with them. And the conversations one can have with others about vintage treasures just enhances the experience. They aren't just "things." In this age of technology that often diminishes authentic interaction with others, this book is a reminder of the importance and gift of sharing our personal stories. Bob Richter facilitates opportunities to connect to the past while continuing the journey into the present and beyond. It is obvious he lives life to the fullest. Happy am I that he chose to share that with the rest of us.

They bring me joy and make me wonder about who their former owners were. And they are infinitely more unique and interesting than anything I could find at a chain retail shop. I am thoroughly enjoying my copy of Vintage Living and will certainly be picking up a few extra copies as gifts! Looking forward to seeing more from Bob Richter!

First of all, I am still going through this book, but I am so impressed that I did want to give my first blush impression.To use the phrase "copiously illustrated" would be to risk using understatement. There are a lot of gorgeous pictures, and you would think, with so many photos, some would be dark, or boring, or difficult to interpret, but you would be wrong. The photo editing in this book is a singularly impressive achievement.The gyst of this book, and the thing that has motivated me to write this review, is the implicit critique of consumerism that really does shine through in a book about "stuff". The author shares his personal story, and his personal possessions, and photos of his own home -- and what is totally absent are mass-produced modern items that fuel our culture of consumption.You might not appreciate the aesthetic of many of the homes pictures. You will not be principally taking notes for decorating ideas (though you might find some excellent ideas!). Although the author's philosophy can't be called minimalist (whatever the Netflix show that has encouraged Goodwill donations, whatever that is), but it is also not inconsistent with minimalism.There are so many objects that already exist, that can connect you with your own past, or your own family, or your own idea of how you envision your own future. Appreciating these objects, and re-inventing them (& Richter gives a lot of great examples) seems to me to have a lot of benefits, would keep a lot of modern junk --destined to end up in a landfill sooner than later -- from ever being produced.Here is a great example, one chapter talks about a person who uses her family's "fancy" china (the plate/dish kind of china) on an informal basis everyday -- much more informally than it was used in its day. And yet, we are stopping these pieces from ending up in the trash, being replaced by something recently made. I think of re-using as being basically carbon footprint-free!If you think that something "antique" means "expensive" or even "fancy" this book is liable to be a helpful wake-up call to you. I might be in the sweet spot for readers at whom this book was aimed. I have some of my grandmother's juice glasses, and I sometimes give my own kids juice with these glasses, so they will remember them, and be the fourth generation to have some connection to them. If I kept these glasses "safe" in the cabinet, they would soon lose their meaning. I remember drinking out of these glasses at breakfast, which wouldn't happen if they were kept "safe". And I will remember my logic when inevitably one of these glasses break.Even though you might think this is a book about objects, it is a really a book about mindfulness, and that is why I think this book is really mind-expanding, and I think hitting the zeitgeist at exactly the right time, when there is more cultural consciousness about our relationship with our material goods. Less can be more; new can be better than old; consumption should never be an end in itself. These are ideas that need more exposure.I'm not kidding -- I really am impressed by this book.But I also want to mention the gorgeous photos again!
