Just what I was looking for!Most books on baby-led weaning focus too much on convincing you of the benefits (in my opinion), and provide little other information. This book goes over the benefits in a concise manner, and stresses that "baby-led" is the important part. It has overviews for what is important (e.g. iron), when to start, what to do if your baby isn't particularly interested, food allergies, choking vs. gagging, and tips for vegetarian and vegan parents.This is a solid review of the most important aspects, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.What I appreciate about this book specifically, are the recipes for starting out. Other baby-led weaning books on the market either stop short at "just feed your baby what you eat!" or provide a list of completely random recipes--and none are nearly as good as many other generic recipes you can find online. My concern as a first time mom, wasn't feeding my baby what I'm eating, but what to do when I'm just starting out.The overwhelming majority of people behind baby-led weaning (and other schools of thought, and my pediatrician) suggest you start at six months. At this age, in the beginning, it can be entirely too confusing to figure out how to serve food to your whole-palm-grabbing baby, and what to actually serve. You can't just say, "feed them what you're eating!" when I'm eating a steak. How will a six month old chew the steak, and how do you serve it?This book gives you an idea of what to serve at this awkward stage, to both make it easy for your baby, safe for you baby, and still healthy in that it meets the increasing dietary requirements. After this (at around 9 months, depending on the baby), your child will actually be ready to eat whatever you're eating, and maybe other babies can start to eat your dinner right from the start. For all others, like myself, who are confused and still somewhat intimated, this book is fantastic!

Other than that, I bought it 'coz its a requirement for my course, I think its a good intro reading for healthcare management, however, could have dealt with few things in more detail than it does.

Bought used, it was in decent shape just like I expected. Had some highlighter and underline marks. Didn't really use it for the class though.

I always hated them because it never got to the point just drawn out lessons but with no real work or content.The books can be useful for beginners/someone who has never used an Adobe program..advance designers not so much, it can be a complete bore and overdrawn, to say the least ..a lot of unnecessary verbiage..you literally get 3-5 pages on each lesson telling you how to save your document or name your layers or explaining basic stuff like “this is how you draw a circle selecting the shape tool in the toolbar” or “this is how you select the type tool".. like Really?!! Anyone who uses Adobe knows the tools are relatively the same across each platform ..yes some do have special tools but drawn out explanations on how to use the type tool or how to create a square selecting the shape tool are not necessary.Most of the tools and menus are self-explanatory and takes away from the lesson..once you finally read through and get to the lesson it’s drawn out to an additional 5 pages of something simple like how you place an image on the stage and nothing much beyond that.Honestly, I learned way more watching online tutorials via other websites for FREE than reading through this book in a short amount of time compared to the time it takes me to get through this book.Disappointed...

Even though I knew most of the basics of the software, I wanted to really dig in and find out the recommended procedures for things. It was a great support tool and refresher. The only setback I had was that I never got the same results as the book for the IK bones section, which is what I really got it for. To learn the puppet procedures. (You can skim a few parts, if you're not a psychologist.) Very short and to the point, which I also appreciated. The one thing I will note, for folks for whom it's relevant: the author clearly doesn't have children, and it's not written with parents of young children in mind. As long as you understand the perspective, should be a very useful book for anyone who wishes they were writing more.

To Dr. Paul Silvia, author of How to Write a Lot: A Practical Guide to Productive Academic Writing, I want to say: Ouch, that was a real slap in the face, but thank you.A few days ago, I was gladly notified of the acceptance of my proposal to present at a graduate student research conference this fall. Considering the grave importance of producing the most satisfactory piece of academic writing as my first official foray into the academia, I wanted to be as well prepared as possible. A firm advocate of the Chinese idiom -- sharpening your axe before cutting the firewood is never a waste of time -- and a long-time beneficiary of a myriad of how-to books, I picked Dr. Silvia's How to Write a Lot as one of my reference materials.This book starts out with bona fide face slapping -- piercing, painfully accurate diagnosis and demystification of the four most prevailing "specious barriers" to writing a lot. Inspiration comes through diligent scheduling, not desultory daydreaming.Another life-altering wake up call for me is the principle of "write first, revise later." I was indeed in a misguided quest for the perfect first draft throughout graduate school. It would take me forever to write down a perfect first sentence before I can move on to the next one. It is the self-inflicting malpractice of writing that makes writing more excruciating that it already is. Hence the procrastination. Hence the analysis paralysis.Besides the heart-pumping motivation and trenchant guidance on how to implement a writing schedule, this book also provides insights on submission and resubmission of academic journals, writing a book, and other aspects of academic writing any scholar will encounter in their professional life. But although these advices makes sense, they are also at times a bit self-evident.In general, I liked the book because it was an easy, quick read that motivated me to indeed draw up my own writing schedule and start writing. But I wouldn't tell my friends to spend money on it (I would recommend consulting the nearest library), so I won't give it more than three stars. It just needs some more substantiatial arguments than that one take-home message to justify giving it four stars...

This is a simple and relatively short book, because it does not need to be long. I've struggled for years, trying to figure out why I can't make writing flow more easily and why I always end up pushed against deadlines needing entire days or weekends or weeks to finish writing something I could have (and should have) finished earlier. Even if you aren't sure why you don't write the way you wish you could, this book can probably help you. Many thanks to the author.

Hi, I'm Chris and I'm a binge writer. I'm currently reading this book and it makes sense.To Amazon: However I'd like to be able to read the figures in 2.2. They appear so small I doubt there is a number, perhaps below 1. If I'm reading a Kindle book on a Kindle reader I expect to be able to read all the figures, tables, and data related information. Perhaps a magnification setting would be appropriate like on Apple Touch 4G. A long press with your finger brings up a magnifier of the specific words you are looking at so you can edit.To readers: I would also like to request more academic writing suggestions for Applied Linguistics. My program was weak so I need to teach myself. So if you have any book recommendations or website recommendations please advise. To get the ball rolling, I recommend Writing Under Pressure, by Sanford Kaye. Thanks in advance
